Who would have ever thought you would see so many empty seats at the Brickyard. I guess the George family will find out it all was not Tony's fault.

I'm surprised there are THAT many people in the stands. They have been pimpin' that race on all the radio stations around here for weeks. They have tried all kinds of gimics to no avail (set up a "beach" in the infield...12 and under get in free....one radio station was putting on a party with a seat in turn 3 for $50).

Biggest issue to me is ticket price. I had a friend who was trying to unload two tickets that were face value $150 a piece. My 500 tickets (2 tix) are $167 total. Also, general admission for the 500 is $20, 400 it's $40. The racing isn't that great (that track just isn't built for those cars) and they basically charge double in most cases. That's why people stay home....that's why they stay home at a lot of Cup tracks...too damn much money for one race.

Looks at it this way, just looking at ticket prices. I can go to all of IN Sprint Week for $140 ($20x7). ONE 400 ticket can cost more than that. So 7 great races or 1 crappy race? No brainer to me.

And if you record it, you can fast forward right to the end. LOL

Wow! That place has got to be over half empty. Who'd a thunk back in 04 or 05 auto racing's most hallowed ground would be an empty cavern. I hate to see IMS this sad but whatever happens to NASCAR is OK by me.

Back when they were jumping ticket prices 10 bucks every year for the heat races (qualifiers) at Daytona and also at places like Michigan, Talladega, Atlanta, Darlington and Charlotte, etc. in addition to Indy I was hoping they would pay the price down the line.

They are!

It's funny how simple math makes it look even more ridiculous to spend all that money on one race. I never knew sprint week shows were $20 admission. Again, you guys got it good!
