Tomorrow, July 14, 2010, may be a pivotal day in how we see the IndyCar Series 10, 15 or 20 years from now.

At 12:30 p.m., the Indy Racing League will unveil its car plans for the future in a special announcement at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard is expected to release the details of the specifications that the new car will be built to, but that it will be open to more than one car builder, following the lead from its 2011 engine regulations, which were released in June.

This will give multiple car makers the opportunity to build a chassis within the parameters provided by the IRL and may (along with multiple engine suppliers) go a long way toward bringing additional competition to the series.

NSSN has also learned that as part of this announcement will be the unveiling of a plan to take grass-roots racers to the IndyCar Series, beginning with a fully funded ride in the Indy Lights Series that would go to a USAC graduate.

It appears there is a lot for fans of IndyCar racing to be excited about and tomorrow’s announcement will be the next step in the evolution of the IndyCar Series.
