Pill Sizing

Hey guys, I'm setting up my first 410 soon and wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where to start with pill sizing. It's an all aluminum 410. It is not direct injection, and on the lower end of HP. Should make around 650-700hp. I have a 500 pump setup, but what should I set the regs at to start, and what pills would you recommend using to start with? I'm new at this and willing to learn anything I can from here!
Thanks in advance! |

Sorry, I went back and read that and it didn't make much sense, haha. The heads are not drilled and tapped for nozzles, I have the injection tubes in the intake.

Ok,65 main pill-high speed 58lbs,70 pill...barrel valve25% ....this will probly be fat,but better to start that way than risk lean and burn a piston.....if when you start the car -youcan sit in it and breath ok but if it makes your eyes water lean the barrel valve back to 20%.......when you first wheel pack watch the temp gauge -from dead cold to140/150 should be 5 -6 laps ...10 hot laps on the gas180/190...again just a ballpark-if you have a problem ,ask other racers at the track, they'll help

Awesome, thank you for the quick response! This is my first time working on a hilborn setup. I'm looking for any information I can find. If anyone has links to any websites with good info, or if anyone has any good advice to share, I would absolutely appreciate it! (I've all through Hilborn and Kinsler's websites so far, haha!)

Not to step on anyones toes here. I always think that you should ask people who specialize in that area. Call Tim Engler at Engler injection. 812-386-6254
He is very sharp and can get you dialed in. Have your pump size and nozzle sizes ready when you call.

Ok, just a quick question, what is the easiest way to set the barrel valve? I understand that it's adjusted right at the linkage, but how do I test what 25 or 20 is?
Thanks again!! |

leak down tester...speedway motors sells one cheap...you'll need a air compressor that can maintain 100psi...make an adapter to attach a fitting to the inlet fuel line to the barrel valve [if you have a lowspeed -you'll need to cap it] one more note ...almost any sprint car driver/owner in your area would be more than happy to help you -we stick together...good luck
