Let me be the first to post this. I bet you hear on Wednesday 2-13-08 that CHAMP CAR is done. I herd from a great source that they started moving stuff from the office today. I could be wrong but I bet I am not..... The month of may could rule again. Well maybe not rule but be awesome.

This could help the month of May at Indy, but what does it mean for the rest of the year? Will we see IRL running "races" in rainstorms on city streets or at airports, or other such ignorance that we've seen with Champ Car/CART?

This is a win win thing.

What it mean is that IndyCar/Champ car will unite in an effort
to bring open wheel back to the Ameican Public.

You will see ChampCar/Indy car fight for air time.

One of the reasons I love nascar and Indy car so much was
because it was on free TV for almost all of my life.

Even recently they showed IRL on TV, Champ Car on TV and
even Fox tries to give as much programming on Nascar to regular
TV. You don't have to pay for it.

I enjoyed Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon and Jr. Nation/Dale Earnhardt
Jr and Jimmy Johnson on XM radio.

Don't know why I bought that darn radio, but I did.

Oh yeah...I know why I bought it, because you could buy
a XM radio debit card and control how much I spent on the
programming. When the card ran out, it stopped, but not
really. Now when my card runs out, they send a bill. Here we
go again. At first I was trying to control my spending, now
they have bypassed those rules and just bill you for life.

That's unfair.

I might even get cable, but hate the monthly bills.

But with ChampCar IRL, Nascar and WoO and possible some
USAC events to be shown on TV, it's hard to pass it up.

Thank God, I am exposed and close to some local racers.

I will probably always try to make it to my local track when I can.

But I enjoy racing, cars and you name it dealing with automobiles
and history, so I will proabably continue to by every magazine
I can and watch every racing show I can.

And the message boards are fun too!

You'll see people like Panther and D&R (two of the last remaining original IRL teams) get forced out and replaced by PKV, Walker, NHL, and another team.

This isn't as rosy a picture as it may appear. May will be fun because we will have bumping again and cinderella one off deals but the rest of the year is going to be a huge struggle to keep things going. The schedule is going to be in disarray trying to squeeze in three additional races. The press is going to scutinize every move made by Tony and his staff in the IRL and those fans that are disenfranchised by the IRL merger, buyout, takeover, whatever it is called will be screaming loudly about it and be hurting the new series image and perception in the minds of potential fans.

... Larry, I assume you mean a win for Champ Car along with a win for the IRL. Ask Kevin Kalkoven what he has won ?

... Larry, there is no "uniteing" ...Champ Car will simply cease to exist. The owners that see benefit in joining the IRL will do so at this time while the "incentive window" is open.

... Larry, the only fighting you'll see is the former Champ Car ownership defending various law suits.

Hate to disagree with you Larry but you're not following the story ... one that has been unfolding for a dozen years. The events of the coming day or two should answer most questions. Stay tuned !

Indianapolis TV and Derek Daly also saying it looks like the much awaited merger(?) is now. Even reported that Champ Car will file Bankruptcy papers to assist with the reunification. It will be interesting to see who comes over and who gets forced out.
Hope I'm wrong but one of my immediate thoughts is that now it will become even more difficult for open wheel guys to enter the club.....

No it was not Robin Miller he was going that way for sure. It came from a person on the inside who was told today to get certain assets out of the Champ Car office ASAP. From what I hear the office was very busy with things and people getting moved out. But like I said I did not see this but was told by one hell of a source.

Moving things out is a definate sign of bankruptcy. Once filed, All assets are frozen.

Teams will either have a choice, Join IRL or Dispand altogether, With IRL offering incentives like a car, motor and over a million, Most teams have the tools and equiptment to change over. It will still cost them but not as much as a START Up team.
