I have read recently about 2 Drivers who have been injured. I do not know what there safety equipment was like. Take a look at the safety equipment you have, is it just good enough or will it do the job of keeping you safe. Our sport has a danger element to it but is your responsibility to see you have what will do the job. I was at a Swap Meet & a driver was looking at a helmet I explained to him how it should fit. He gruffed and told me it was good enough, I told him it's your funeral & walked away. Fit should be snug, put it on & rock it, your brow should move w/ it. If it has taken a hard hit replace it or send it in to be checked, BEAD-ALL liner will re-shape. NEVER THROW YOUR HELMET any driver who does this should have the helmet confiscated. While it's strapped on reach behind & try to pull it off. If you can it's to big get a smaller one, it just may come off in a crash when you need it most. Check the chinstrap rivets rusty call see if they can be replaced or get a new helmet. Store in a clean dry place, don't clean w/ solvent glue will be loosened. Towel out sweat, skirt or head sock, use a head restraint, maybe tape extra tear offs in a bag for a red flag. Just a few thoughts, feel free to disagree have a safe racing season God Bless

Racing helmet opening should be high enough to protect your nose but not restrict your vision. Got a $10 dollar head buy a $10 helmet. . In motorcycle accidents without helmet head injury occurs at 17mph average, with a helmet 30mph, now how fast do you drive? Before the green flag drops be sure you’re face shield is locked in place so fire can’t get under it. Wash inside of helmet with a mild soap and let dry in the air. Use a light sprinkle of baby powder so stay fresh smelling. When you come in from a race either you or someone on your crew should towel out the inside of your helmet helps last longer. Helmets are good for 2 to 3years send it to manufacturer at the end of the season for a check up. If by chance there is a serious wreck the helmet should be left on if possible, if the neck is damaged removing the helmet can cause damage. If the driver’s breathing with the helmet on just duct tape the helmet to the stretcher or board and transport. Let the hospital remove it, and the Dr may want to see it.
