Heard that the Gas City people are taking over the Bunker Hill oval track. Anybody else hear anything like that?

No, I havn't heard but I flashed maybe a Saturday morning Sprint show for night shift workers or a track prep school, both sorely needed. Maybe they are just making sure it never reopens?

That seems unlikely, and I don't understand what good it would do. All the track did last time they tried to open was pull a few cars away from other tracks that already had thin car counts, and close after about a month. Its a Saturday night track and its too close to Montpelier and Shadyhill to be worth re-opening. It would just cause a few cars to leave those tracks, which would benefit nobody. Can't do Friday because its too close to Gas City, or Sunday because its way too close to Kokomo. The facility is very poor as well. I can understand why people never want to see a racetrack close, but this is one that doesn't make much sense to re-open. It's already difficult to draw a good crowd with the current economy. Creating more competition for that crowd would only make it worse.

I'd like to see it open again. I've seen some good races there in the past. I for one think competition is a good thing. It's the American way (or used to be), let the strong survive.

I know the people that have reworked Bunker Hill and turned it into a motocross track, I am not sure how this rumor got started but that is all it is. Why if Jiggs and Phil turned down Montpelier why would they want to basically start from scratch at B.H.

But wouldn't it be so great to go back to a night when it was happening?

Had a track here in MIchigan that ran on Thu nights, had a good crowd, and got out at a decent time. Could you imagine racing 4 days a week, just a thought.
