I am planning on coming over to LPS tomorrow night and run. Want to bring my two boys with me. Is there an age limit in the pits or can I sign a waiver for them to come in with me? Any info would be appreciated.

I am going to take a guess and say that there is not an age limit based on the following picture from Dave Merritt. Look at the bottom left hand corner.

There is NO age limit for the pits... the price is the same for children as it is for adults.

So, if I read the website for LPS right, pit passes are $25 per person; which means that you'll be spending $75 for you and the two boys.....

ouch!

That Sucks that kids are full price for the pits. I understand the insurance deal but this is supposed to be a family sport...JMO My wife and Kids are staying home this weekend just because of that. or kids could get in cheaper and they could of gotten the wifes money so I guess they will lose $25 of mine this weekend. Just sucks cause my Boy love the race Track

He wants to use his kids as a pit crew...putting them at risk-while he plays..I assume he feels their mature enough to be in a working pit without supervision,,,anyone ever consider how a driver would feel if,while idleing through the pits,he would hit a child who simply ran out [like kids sometimes do]...screw the money ,,think about the possible downside to putting your kids in such a high risk enviorment

Dan....

Some parents don't always exercise the best judgement. If a track has no age restricitions on entering the pits, and a parent signs his kids in, and something untoward happens, I do not believe that our legal system will look at the signed release favorably. The thing about the pits is that cannot completely control the environment - bad things sometimes happen...while I won't pass judgement on anyone who signs their kids into the pits, I know what I'd do...buy them a $5 grandstand seat/ticket and have them chaperoned. And if I couldn't get a chaperoned, well, they're kids. They'll get over missing a race....no matter how much they enjoy the races!

Seriously? You seem to have no idea. I grew up around racing and in the pits. I was getting into the pits when there was an age limit by lying. I am 29 years old now. Some of the best memories from my childhood are of being in the pits helping my dad.

You see when you are part of the pit crew there is not time to goof off. I think its great that he is including his kids. These are the racers of tomorrow.

Another thread on how people should raise there kids is not needed. He is including his kids in what he enjoys. THIS IS WHAT DADS ARE SUPPOSE TO DO!

Also to the guy who said staying at home and missing it won't hurt them...

Wrong they will remember not getting to go. I remember not being able to go at times and it crushes you. Most of the times I couldn't go were USAC shows because at 13 or 14 its hard to pass as 18 which was USACs age limit.

I don't know of any tracks that have a Kid's Rate for Pit Passes.

Kids need to be supervised everywhere, not just in the Pits.

Some of the Adults wandering around the Pits shouldn't be allowed off their leashes either!!!
