Interesting article from 1986 -- SOD Series

As Dustin Daggett approaches Hurryin' Hank Lower's record 71 feature wins in the ASCS SOD series, (Daggett is currently 6 wins short) I thought it would be fun to revisit Hank's best year in SOD competition -- 1986.

Hank won 15 of 31 events that year, and this article describes the 15th event.

Even today as Hank prepares to compete (at age 72 in May) in the Must-See Racing series of ten televised events, he often mentions 1986 as one of his favorite seasons. By-the-way, in last year's H.O.S.S events Hank finished in the top-three in 8 of 16 starts and won two features. Not bad for a 30 year-old driver yet alone one in his 70s!

Hank IS NOT retiring -- in fact, the team is putting finishing touches on his completely-rebuilt sprinter and will be competing on May 8th in Salem, one day before Hank's 72nd birthday. Come on out and root for the oldest winning Sprint Car driver in the entire USA!
