Since I only live 13 miles from Eldora and being such a nice night I thought I
would take a trip out there to see if anything is new.
I talked to Mr Kamp and he told me that they put 6 tandem loads of wood chips & many loads of more clay on the track last fall. They had a big machine come in and mixed it all up. They compacted it all down for the long winter.
With all of the snow and the rain all day last Sunday it was not until yesterday before they could get on the track. He didn’t sound to promising that the track would be in very good shape but he is hoping for the best.

Improvements to the place. They have added a 60 by 20 ft jumbo tron that they got out of Dallas old stadium. It is not hooked up yet because they had to wait for the electric company to run 3 phase to it.

They added more seats that I think most of us won't care for. They added them right behind the main grandstands. This is the area where a lot of people would stand or put there lawn chairs. When you walk in now all you see is a bunch of stands. When you were walking the main area by the concession stand and bar you could see the track. Now with these 3 rows of bleachers all you will see is butts. The top row is all most to the roof.
There is only a small section next to the announcer stand that there aren’t stands.
Anyway hope every one has a safe trip to the track.

That sucks, that is part of the fun of Eldora is being able to stand and talk to friends or wait in line while still being able to see the races. Bad move by tony imo

Duke

I have not heard or seen anything about the race.
It might of been in the local paper in the sport section in which
I do not read.
One thing about the new seats is that they are portable so if you don't
care for them let them know.
The one thing that set Eldora apart from many tracks was the view from standing on the top. Like I told Mr Kamp I like the old track better it starting to look like a nascar track to much hype.

I read on Eldora's web page, that the reason for the bleachers was that too many people were abusing the lawn chair seating. Chairs were getting to big and taking up more space than they should have.

Or maybe they wanted the third row revenue.

Doesn't matter how big the chair is, it's what is gonna fill it. Can't save any space with that.
