Just thought many IOW readers would like to see the #82 Lay Transmission Spl. sprinter at the USAC show at Oswego Speedway - 16 July 1967.

that appears to be one of those "Alfaters" we've discussed on here before! one of the ugliest sprint cars ever built but, lightning fast. Rollie was hard to beat in that car. That may be the twin 50 lap race that Mario won and Rollie finished 2nd.

cecil98 - not really to sure what it is about the Lay Trans. Spl you think is ugly. But, everyone has their opinion. Don't remember anyone commenting about it being ugly back in 1967. But, I do remember the happy comments made by a lot of my racing buddies, just to be able to see Rollie Beale race up in Oswego, New York. Oh well, again, you call it the way you see it.
When I see Rollie Beale I will let him know you thought his sprint car was ugly. Have a good day...see you at the races Rich - Arnold, Missouri |

cecil98 - you do have some interesting race car critiques I will admit. But, you have the right to say it, as you see it. As far as saying anything to Rollie Beale, it won't happen. Maybe, we can meet at some race track someday, somewhere, and talk racing. I plan on being up Indiana way in 2010 quite a bit, Indy for practice and Pole Day,the Indiana State Fairgrounds, and Little 500 for starters, in the month of May.
Have a good day...see you at the races Rich

The first one I remember seeing was the Crash Brothers car that Lou Blaney drove. I thought it was a shortened champ dirt car and that someone had split a grease drum length-wise for the nose. |
