The Rumble Series is THINKING about having the Rumble In Fort Wayne on Friday, December 31 2010, and Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011. What is your opinion?...Remember..this is just a question..not official.
The other choices would be Wed. Dec. 29, and Thurs. Dec. 30. The reason this comes up because Christmas falls on Fri. and Sat. Dec 25. I have a poll going on our message board. Click here to vote. http://www.midgetmadness.com/forums/...howtopic=18987 Best to all in 2010. Thanks, Tony Barhorst www.rumbleseries.com

Tony,
There is no doubt in my mind as a driver and promoter it would be a great move to change the Ft. Wayne Rumble Series race to New Years Eve and New Years Day. This would be a great way to ring in the new year!! ![]() |

I like these dates also.
![]() I think there are too many other things on New Year's Eve & Day that wouldn't allow some fans to attend. The Rumble to me is also a lot about the kids & karts. I would think some families would prefer the mid week dates and having their families at home on the New Year's Eve & Day. Jim Fisher www.fscpictorial.com |

I do know hotels charge more on weekends and correct me if I'm wrong, but don't hotels charge even more on New Year's Eve.
Also with the skeleton crews working in most retail places with shortened hours, I think it would cause some inconvenience. Not to mention won't some of the non-race fan hired help possibly have more lucrative jobs to work/plans or expect more pay for a holiday. I've only been to the last five shows, and would be certain that at least one of them would have been a mid week show. So I checked and 2005 was a Thursday-Friday event, all since have been Fri-Sat, Sat-Sun. I also fall into the "wife's not into racing so much" category, where I would have to pay and incur the expenses for my whole family to be in Fort Wayne on New Year's Eve. I watched TV last night, was in bed by 1:00 am. But I still couldn't get away with being gone away on New Year's Eve. I understand some people have to work during the week. I was off on unpaid vacation this year for the past 2 weeks. If I had to work mid week in 2010, at least an early warning would mean many could book vacation time off. Of course this is only my point of view, based on my current life situation.

The New Year's Eve FW Komets game is one of the best attended all year, so the parking lot would be packed for sure.
The point about NYE hotel rooms is true to a point. A lot of places have 'deals' for that night. The big thing is finding a great racer's rate for people, and Tony has done that very well over the years. I think Tulsa will run the Shootout that weekend, but not sure. I'd personally prefer not to race on New Year's Eve, but if we do, there'd better be a big party. Posted via Mobile Device |

Selfishly, I'd like to see it run Friday and Saturday; I don't want to see the argument that ensues when the warehouse manager tells the boss he's taking 2 days off in the middle of inventory week.
![]() Realistically, I'll probably be there either way. |
