+ Pretty nice field of sprint cars in the pits that evening. The #71 (Ross Smith) and #72 (Dick Gaines) were Dizz Wilson owned and wrenched. #19 (Jon Peddie) was the Maud Smith owned ride.

+ While this was a special and presumably higher paying event, most of this field of cars and drivers were regular 'Burg Saturday night runners for the most part as I recall.

+ Mike Johnson, who had been one of the top 3 or 4 'Burg regulars in the early '60's along with Stan Bowman, Gil Hess, and Wayne Wolfe, would later operate the Paragon Speedway. I never got to meet Wolfe but I'd guess that he, like the other three mentioned, was a really nice chap.

+ In the Stock Car portion of the show that night, Pat Patrick in his #5 outtimed the 28 car field with a 15.57, also a New Track Record. Calvin Dean won the fast car dash and in car number 57, hard charger John Mugavin moved up from his 16th starting spot to take the checkers for the win.

+ Let me know if you like this old stuff, or if it's just "taking up space" like Danny Burton did in high school..........and he was not studying to become an astronaut.

Great Stuff, Marv. I attended almost every show L'Burg had during the 60's.

Love it Marv. Especially when that one guy won the stock cars. Could you tell me if that was 100 laps for the stock cars also that night?

I'm thinking it probably was a 100 lapper Shane because, like for the sprints, they only had time trials, a fast car dash, and the feature (no heats). But, for some reason I hadn't written down the number of laps. Might have been one of those Saturday nights when the Burger Beer got the best of me.
