Loyet nails Kemper victory for 20th win of season”

By Bryan Gapinski
Kansas City, Mo., Dec. 18---Brad Loyet scored a wire-to wire victory capturing Friday Night’s 30-lap Lucas Oil Bull Ring Midget Nationals presented by Lucas Cattle Company at the Kemper Arena. The $5,000 victory was midget feature victory number twenty of the season, nationwide for the Missouri driver.
Loyet jumped into the lead from the outside front row at the start, with three cautions slowing the event in the first two circuits. On Lap 5 Loyet started lapping the tail of the field followed by Bryan Clauson, and Greg Lueckert. The event was stopped on Lap 7 when Terry McCarl excuted a series of flips on the backstretch escaping injury.
Four cautions appeared during the next three laps. Once the racing resumed on Lap 10, tight racing occurred around the small dirt oval for positions throughout the field. Loyet increased his lead over Clauson each lap. Brad Kuhn and Danny Lasoski quickly moved through the field, after being involved in separte accidents and into the top six by midway point.
Loyet again began lapping the tail of the field on Lap 18, and spent the remainder of the race in traffic. Loyet driving the Loyet Motorsports owned Spike/Ford-Esslinger No. 05 finished four car lengths ahead of Clauson, Lueckert, Brad Kuhn who started in 20th position and Lasoski. “The car was perfect, the last ten laps were tough being in lapped traffic” commented Loyet.
Richard Layne won the 20-lap Midwest Outlaw Lightning Sprints feature, while Bud Lee topped the field in the Dwarf Car/ModLites feature.
