I say the heck with Gold and Silver Crown, let's start a totally new series and call it Cubic Zirconia Crown! I propose this to be the best of ALL racing worlds with races on paved and dirt ovals, road courses, rally/rallycross, hillclimb AND drag racing. I propose we get the Thunderboltgreaselighting Chassis company to build all the cars to the same exacting specs and have their chief test driver, the world renowed Tom Slick to develope the cars to the HIGHEST levels possible! I also propose that my new promotional group, SCREWTHEMTILLTHEYBEGFORMERCY LLC. promote all races and sanction same with offciating provided by THREEBLINDMICE Inc. Drivers already signed to race are Dick Dastardly and his partner Mr. Muttly, Speed Racer, Eric Cartman and Duke Cook! There will be no rulebook, we will make them up as we go along, points champion will be whoever we want after a long, screwed up chase format involving games of chance. Just what we need another race series Why don't you run a narrower rear tire and make it more competitive. This series must run night races at poorly lit tracks, hence the reason for the headlights. This will only work if the races are broadcasts live on the cartoon network.

Doesn't matter, USAC will still screw it up and it will get shoved down our throats as the cure all for the ailments of open wheel racing in the U.S.

That cartoon still looks a hell of a lot better than that "thing" being pushed through and being called a Gold Crown car.

No current racing sanctioning body will be involved with this series. We have contracted with a TRUE sports entertainment person to lead this series. Without a doubt this man and his company LEAD the way in sports entertainment and marketing. We have hired Mr. Vince McMahon to lead us in our quest to be the very best in racing/sports entertainment. Also to answer another posts, the headlights are NONfunctional, they are only there to give a very small and in no way close comparision to a real car in order to be able to get major car companies involved, once we have applied our vast promotional abilites to dealing with same said companies(we're going to get them drunk and hire hookers!) we intend to refer to the cars as Mustangs, Vipers, vettes, etc..........

Since the Multi car teams always dominate this type of series is there any way you can find one team/owner who could field all 35 entries out of his stable???

Seriously, it's winter here in the Hoosier state and most of us have stopped worrying about racing and started hoping our Hoosiers win a couple of Big 10 games this year! One of the best things about living here, racing ends for the year and then it's Basketball time, March Madness ends and then the racing starts! Year round aggravation! lol

You are right. Ole Tom Slick piloted the very successful Thunderbolt Greaseslapper to countless victories! How come he wasn't in the running for driver of the year in the IOW poll? I may have to go back and change my vote to Tom Slick as a write in.

Just to kind of flesh out the whole Tom Slick theme I got this from Wikipedia;

Tom Slick is the cartoon star of a series of shorts that aired within the half-hour, animated television series George of the Jungle (ABC, 1967). It was the work of Jay Ward Productions, the creators of Rocky & Bullwinkle and other satiric animated characters.

Freckled, all-American racecar-driver Tom Slick (voiced by Bill Scott) competes in various races with his trusty vehicle, the Thunderbolt Greaseslapper. He is accompanied by his girlfriend Marigold (June Foray) and his elderly mechanic Gertie Growler (Scott). His antagonist is Baron Otto Matic (Paul Frees) and his lackey Clutcher (Daws Butler), whom the Baron had a penchant for hitting across the head with a monkey wrench. I can remember watching this cartoon, plus Super Chicken and George of the Jungle when I was a kid, I'm kind of surprised there was only 17 episodes made. Also remember watching the Wacky Racers cartoon, all back in the day when you got up early on a saturday morning, grabbed a bowl of cereal (Capt. Crunch!) and watched cartoons untill you went out and found your friends to play(not play video games, I had a Pong tho, lol).......
