We rent a car from Budget Rental Car in Orlando for exactly 2 days for P.R.I.. A Hyundai Accent to be precise. Total cost $60.17

We rent the same model (a Hyundai Accent), from the same company, for exactly 2 days in Tulsa this week. Total cost: $140.56!!!

So I call the local Budget location to ask why such a difference in price, and she says: "It's because we have the Chili Bowl Playoffs in town this week, and that's the going rate. It's what we can get when the playoffs are in town".... At least she was honest about it!

Just a little tid bit for those who feel stuck at home and would rather be in OK.. :Steer

Oh yeah, Hotels and Rental car companies know when they can rip you off and *GET AWAY WITH IT* Growing trend as well as sports venues that have strong rivalries having price boosting for those games only.

And this is any different then what they do for the Indy 500 or any other Nascar event for motels or anything else

BIG difference in room rates at motels in Greenville, OH before and after the USAC schedule leaks. At least, that's been the case in some past years. Same way at Terre Haute.

Chili Bowl "Playoffs"? Do they think it's football?

When I lived out west I could save big money by flying into Chicago and drive to Indy then fly into Indy and get a rental car there during the 500 weekend

It's not as bad as you think. Florida's rental car market is so competitive that rates there are much lower than anywhere else in the country at any time of year. I've rented cars in four places in the last four months, and the price I'm paying in Tulsa is not that different from what I paid in the other placed, except Florida.

Dick.
