2009 started out with Danville and Morgan County...
Am I wrong, or are we looking at 2010 with no weekly non wing racing in Illinois? |

It would be nice to know something. Every year Illinois sprint car racers never know if we have a place to race or not. Illinois sprint week was nice, Is this going to happen again?

Spoonriver would be a good place to have a weekly series at, that's if the rumor about that track I hear is false.

Red Hill is one of the Nicest racetracks in the area. I personally love the place. But the town of Sumber pissed Mills off and I'm not sure he will open it back up. Jim Mills are you out there? What's the story?

Joe Spiker said on D.O.'s radio show that he would like to run Fridays at Danville. He has the contract on it so I would look for him to do so. The IL Sprint Week will return unless no one is interested in following it.
There are several quality tracks to run sprint cars on in IL, but instead of voicing an opinion on IOW of which you would like to see, call or email them yourself and let them know.....it isn't going to happen automatically. Maybe if 20 or so driver/owners would call or write Tammy G. with some comments on a purse and some basic rules, it might be considered. Thats how SCORA ran in IL last year and ISW was started. We got on the phones and asked. Kankakee Speedway is running a poll on their website asking the fans and participants what they want to see at their track. Charleston is another place open to new ideas. The new American Sprint Car Tour is seeking some dates for steel block cars for next year in Illinois. I talk to track owners all of the time because of my job and I am always asking and suggesting non wing sprint cars....but I'm only one voice. Help me out!

I think the Gundakers are Late Model people, so that will always be their main focus. I appreciate every time they have a midget or sprint event, though, and would like to see them try a few more, especially non wing.
