I have to first thank my lovely wife Chantel who doesn't enjoy my passion for racing, but let me go to my 81st track in my 18th state. It was Ventura Raceway, my first track in California. If I had went a week later I could have went to Perris for the Nationals, but that would have been a too much of a race to leave early. I know a few of you could be thinking I am a little off my rocker going to a racetrack on my honeymoon, but then again if you are on this site you understand.

It was Halloween and slightly cold by California standards, so the crowd was sorta thin. Jim Naylor and his staff are real nice people, I had a great time. The track is about an hour Northwest of LAX. This was my first time in California and every town has a different kinda feel. Ventura seemed like a relaxed oceanside town that all of the coastal cities have. The Senior Sprints were a pretty strong division.

We didn't stay the whole night, as this was our last night in California, but if you are ever in the area Ventura Raceway is worth the trip. I shot a little bit of hotlaps while she was at the mall, and tried to get some pit side shots.

Sorry to mislead anyone thinking that this would be an off topic post, I love racing and after a 3 week stretch since my last race, and lots of cold and snow until Fort Wayne I had to do something.

I am glad you finally made it to my home state, James. Too bad your wife doesn't share your passion. Believe me, it makes me appreciate Penny more and more. Not only does she put up with my racing and travel, she looks forward to Sprint Week as much as I do.
