Hello IOW friends:
Winchester Speedway Story ![]() Al Blixt E-mailed me on Saturday morning 31 October 2009 and asked me to pass it along. I think you will enjoy reading this story very much. Have a good day...see you at the races Rich - Arnold, Missouri The Al Blixt E-mail that he sent to me: This is to let you know that I have just posted the first of three stories about Winchester Speedway on my racing site. I will be covering more than 70 years of history at this legendary track through photographs taken my my dad, Al (Ace) Blixt and me between 1936 and 2009. The first part just posted covers the track in the 1930's and information about its founder, Frank Funk. In the coming weeks you will see my photos from 1966 of the USAC Sprints with drivers like Mario Andretti, Roger McCluskey and many others. Later I will tell the story of Winchester Old Timers Weekend with photos and information about the historic cars that were on display during that wonderful weekend. Check it out and let me know what you think. And, please pass this along to anyone who might be interested in auto racing history. Thanks.
