I was at Oswego Speedway on 28 August 1966 and watched the # 25 USAC sprint car of Dave Lundy of Monroeville, PA.
![]() NOTE: Roger McCluskey can be seen here walking to his sprint car #51. Dave Lundy's #25 is the car behind McCluskey's #51. ![]() Photo by Rich - Arnold, Missouri Two weeks later on 11 September 1966 Dave Lundy in the same #25 sprint car took this very scary flip and went over the wall at the end of the backstretch at Terre Haute. ![]() Photo by Phil Rodenberger - 1966-1967 Edition Motorsport Annual Pictorial Have a good day...see you at the races Rich - Arnold, Missouri |

Was there that day. An eye injury that affectedly ended his driving days. Right or has the years again dulled my memory?

Also that car was boston louis! When it was weinberger homes car it ended johnny white's driving at terre haute in turn one the red reigle was killed in it with jud larson at reading! And it went over the wall at kansas city and the driver steve kennick from ca. Retired after that! I drove it at dayton in hots laps and it would jump sideways on the strightaways and move over to the left bout 4-5 feet!!! I told louie about it and he fired me! So jerry daniels car blew up and they got him to drive it! One hot lap and he came in white as a ghost and quit! Then they ask me to time trial it! And i said el paso!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dave,
You are right dave. From what I read, eye complications forced Dave Lundy into semi retirement. Rich |

When you look at that sequence you can better understand how USAC lost 6 drivers during the 1966 season. It still took a few years before cages were mandatory though even after a disasterous season like 1966.

I remember J. White going over the wall in turn 1. I believe it was during time trials . There was a $500 bonus if you broke the track record or had fast time. I don't remember which one. A sad day.
