Young Fans with Rich Dads/Grandpas.

Good Grief...another IOW thread has gone on for four pages with back and forth banter about the practice of affluent elders buying rides and or equipment for their young'uns. Being neither wealthy father nor young open wheel driver, I can't comment with any credibility on that issue. But, I have been seething about an equally unfair situation rampant in sprint car racing circles..........and ovals. That is, of course, the sad case of older sprint car fans who are limited by fixed incomes in the number of races they can attend and the concession ammenities they can enjoy.
Meanwhile, you've got these kids who are priviledged to attend racing events without worry about where the bucks will come from. One particular case (names will not be provided in order to avoid embarassment to the subjects and to avoid cuts, abrasions, and lacerations to my body) involves a young lad whose Grandpa has one of those high dollar gravy jobs with the USPS. This young chap has been to Gas City, Bloomington, the 'Burg, etc. Get this.......he doesn't even chip in on the gas. I'd like to go to Gas City more often. ![]() One time at Lawrenceburg he talked PaPaw into springing for a sword at some carnival deal going on in the midway. I couldn't get a sword having already exhausted my extra bucks on losing 50/50 tickets. You've all seen these silver spoon gifted tykes. Eating cotton candy and funnel cakes. Hey, I'd like to have a sweet treat once in awhile, but noooooo........I have to keep a cash reserve for the necessities......Viagra, Rogaine, Lipitor, etc. I don't have a rich benefactor to contribute to my race enjoyment. IT AIN'T FAIR!!! I tell ya. ![]() Enough.....I'm usually a 99% positive poster but given the P'ing and M'ing here at IOW lately about USAC, Spridge, tires, dust, and on an on, I just thought this was an issue equally worthy of a rainy day gripe posting. Now................I gotta go try to get a life. Oh yea........almost forgot.......... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Marv, Maybe cut back your visits to Bob Evans to only 15 times a week. Fix the oven and make some pot pies?
I think with a little creativity you could save enough money to buy more 50/50 tickets. I know you keep buying viagra also, but why? ![]() ![]() BTW, we just received a shipment of seat cushions and blankets with the Lawrenceburg Speedway logo on them. For the rest of the year, seats can only be saved with these items. :2: Make sure you pick your up at the souvener booth next week. :2: Love, Bozo |

Marv, you better bring a shield to the track on Saturday, that young man may decide to turn on you.

Marv, it'll get worse. He has a little brother who is growing at an even faster rate.
![]() I'm hoping for him to make his race track debut before the year is out. Only one downside here for me: Landon is just about too heavy to carry inside the house when he falls asleep on the way home from a race. And soon Karston will be the same, especially as I get older myself. His dad reads this and will be making the final call for Eldora. I read somewhere about ride buying and that ultimately talent being the currency. Think about it. ![]()
