If Lawrenceburg had a small number and Haubstadt had just around 20 and Lincoln Park
Speedway had a little over 30, did Paragon have like 50? There is no updates on the track and with some rain, I got to wonder where all the crazy car numbers went? |

There were 37 at Eldora and they put on a great show considering many of them had never been there before!

If you add the numbers from Lawrenceburg, Lincoln Park, Paragon, Haubstadt and Eldora, you have around 130 sprint cars. Not a bad turnout considering weather plus USAC running at Belleville.

Next Saturday will likely be the same with Lawrenceburg, Putnamville, Paragon, VCS, and Kokomo all racing. Why is Kokomo racing on Saturday night?

This is more likely to be what car counts are going to look like as the season winds down and cars that get bent aren't able to be so quickly replaced. The big teams will always be able to plug a new hitter into the program, but as cash-strapped teams contend with the wear and tear, and the costs crunch, every field will shrink towards the end of the season. Whether Belleville or some other venue has lured away the more nationally prominent names or not...

The way Ive seen it unfold is everyone said lets go "non wing" racing because its SO MUCH CHEAPER to run and if we run the DT-3 for $140 that will last for 3 or 4 races we can keep costs down & get more cars out here.
Long story short engines do last longer between rebuilds but still cost the same (and you still have to have a big one) but more cars are upside down(tore up) and more drivers have been hurt. The DT-3 costs as much as any other GOOD tire and everybody runs a new one every race with a new LR so that didn't work. Now shocks have went out of sight and you have to have 4 adjustable ones. Nobody has a weight rule so there goes more $$$. It just takes too much $$$$$ to run up front and most guys can't or won't spend all they got and still feel like they don't have a chance to win, after all thats what its all about. |
