UMRA Heads To Kokomo

The chase for the 2009 UMRA championship continues on Sunday night at the Kokomo Speedway where a big time battle is going on at the top of the standings. Terry Goff is in pursuit of his fourteenth UMRA championship but his lead sits at a precarious 15 points over his brother Oogie.
However, another driver to keep an eye on at Kokomo is Brent Turner. Turner has won the last two UMRA races at Bloomington and Gas City, a run that has the driver of car #19 closing fast as he sits third in the standings, 146 points behind Terry Goff. The Kokomo Speedway is a place that has to bring to mind great memories for Turner as in 2008 he took the second win of his rookie season at the quarter-mile speedplant.
As always the UMRA drivers will be gunning for additional prizes. The feature winner will receive a certificate from the Dutch Mill Buffet in Milroy. Also, the G&G Oil=2 0“Hard Charger of the Race” will be up for grabs as the driver that advances the most positions in the feature will get five gallons of fuel.
It will be an exciting evening of racing as the final sands begin to pass through the hourglass of the 2009 UMRA season and who will win the championship is still anybody’s guess! Gates are set to open at 3:30 on Sunday with practice at five, and racing set to begin at 6:15.
