I was dissappointed to discover that in addition to the Silver Crown race in Springfield on the 22nd, USAC has also scheduled a sprint car race at Lawrenceburg that night. I don't remember a sprint race being scheduled on the same night. There is also the 10,000 to win Sprint Bandit race at Lakeside that night.

I used the Hoosier Hundred as a template and found that of the 28 cars that raced at Indy, 10 of them are in the top 20 in sprint points, including the top 6. I know it is possible to race both if you take a plane, but with the time change, I doubt it. DD did go to Lakeside after Springfield last year. I would be curious to know where the Stewart drivers will race and also Coons, Stanbrough, Darland...etc. DuQuoin is also scheduled against Calistoga. I know that will not affect as many drivers, but probably a few.

The Silver Crown are supposed to be the premier division of USAC. Springfield and Duquoin have raced on the same weekends for as long as I can remember. I hope my concern is all for naught, and there is full fields of cars to go round. I just think that trying to recover the Silver Crown car counts by scheduling a sprint race the same night is risky at best. That is my $.02

That's what I was thinking. I always enjoyed getting into the pits after the race and talking with the drivers and teams. This is always a great way for fans (especially kids) to see what the Silver Crowns and USAC is all about. Depriving the fans of this chance is only going to hurt.

I just glad in are economic state that USAC is willing to fly the drivers from one place to another. It does suck for the kids that like to go to the pits after the races. I have 2 kids and they both love going to the pits but theres always another race and theres always a tommorow.
