Melvin L. "Mel" Johnson,



72, of Lawrenceburg,



IN, formerly of Aurora,



Indiana, died Saturday,



June 13, 2009 in



Edgewood, KY.



He was born Friday,

December 11, 1936 in

Dearborn County,

Indiana, Son of the late

Wayne Johnson and the

late Mildred Maples

Johnson



He worked as a

Mechanic Machinist for

Schenley Distillery,

retiring after over 30

years of service. Mr.

Johnson was a

professional baseball

Scout for the

Philadelphia Philly's, and

also a promoter for

Lawrenceburg

Speedway.



Mr. Johnson held many

interest in his life. He

loved being with the

grandchildren; was an

avid Racing Fan;

coached Basketball and

Baseball at South

Dearborn; enjoyed

Cooking and Grilling

Out. He was a member

of South Dearborn

Sports Hall of Fame,

Lawrenceburg Speedway

Hall of Fame. He played

on the Aurora

Basketball Team from

1952-1955, in which

they were beaten by the

State Champions in 1954

(Hoosier Movie). He

was a member of the

Baseball, Football, Track

and Shot Put Teams.

Melvin was a member of

the South Dearborn All

Century Baseball Team.



Surviving are his wife,

Patti Johnson of

Lawrenceburg, IN;

Daughter, Teri (Bob)

Disch of Aurora, IN;

Son , Tim ( Trina)

Johnson of Aurora, IN, 5

Grandchildren, Travis

Johnson, Kristopher

Johnson, Cody Johnson,

Chelsey Johnson, and

Meghann Disch, 3 Great

Grandchildren; Sister,

Wanda (Allen) Knose of

Harrison, OH; Adopted

Son, Rudy (Kim) Rudisell

of Lawrenceburg, IN.



He was preceded in

death by Parents, and

Son Tony Johnson.






Services




Friends will be received



6:00 - 9:00 PM,



Wednesday, June 17,



2009 at the Rullman



Hunger Funeral Home,



Aurora, Indiana.



Mass Services will be

held at St. Mary's

Catholic Church,

Thursday, June 18, 2009

at 11:00 am with Fr.

Jack Hartzer officiating.



Interment will follow in

the Riverview Cemetery,

Aurora, IN.



Contributions may be

made to the American

Cancer Society or the

American Heart

Association. Please call

the office at (812) 926-

1450 and we will notify

the family of your

donation with a card.
