Multiple Championship Winner Nine Racing, Inc. Now Offers Race Prep Services

Brownsburg, IN—Nine Racing, Inc. owner and founder Steve Lewis has announced that he is opening the doors to the ultra-modern Brownsburg Nine Racing, Inc facility for a specialized new venture called NINE RACING RACE PREP SERVICES to provide a variety of racing services for the open wheel race market.

Long-time Nine Racing team member Kelly Drake will concentrate his efforts on servicing the needs of race teams from mini-sprints to Silver Crown by offering a variety of services that include: complete race preparation services, turnkey maintenance programs, machine work, build roller chassis, fit bodies, custom plumbing, shock maintenance, shock building, shock dyno services, assemble front ends and rear ends.

“We built a state-of-the-art shop that is fully equipped with all the tools and equipment necessary so Kelly Drake can apply his experience and expertise in providing the services that racers need to be able to keep their cars in top shape and running up front,” explained Steve Lewis.

Kelly Drake has been an integral component in the Nine Racing championship formula, joining the team as chief mechanic in 1995 for Tony Stewart’s championship season. Kelly was quickly promoted to crew chief, serving on 9 of the 10 USAC National Midget Series championships.

Kelly has been involved in midget racing since he was five years old. He started in quarter midgets and moved up to TQs (three-quarter-sized midgets). He raced midgets as a teenager and into his early 20s.

At the conclusion of the 2008 race season, Steve Lewis announced his decision to take a break from the responsibilities of competing on a full-time basis in the USAC National Midget Series to devote more time and energy to new projects, such as this one. He is also helping his son Michael become a professional race car driver, who currently drives for Antonio Ferrari’s Eurointernational race team in the Formula BMW Americas Championship and Kevin Gerhard’s Western Speed and Fuel Ford Focus team in the USAC California Pavement Ford Focus Car Series.
