Want to get into mini sprints, looking for info

I'm currently racing road coarse go karts, but am looking to get into some dirt racing and mini sprints seem like a very cost effective way to go. Any information you have would be very helpfull- good tracks/associations to run( I live in Indianapolis), what to expect on start up cost, 600cc or 1000cc, equipment suggestions, etc. Not sure I'm ready to buy quite yet, just looking for some good information. Thanks for your time!

I would go with a 1000cc for your area. try www.extermeracingcomponents.com or www.speedpartz.com

Depends on how much you want to spend and how far you want to travel. Mini sprints run 1000 cc engines and generally run in southern Indiana. Micro sprints are 600 cc sidewinders and run at several tracks from central to north Indiana. If you are coming from karts you may want to look into Micro sprints. They are fast and alot of fun. The same for micro's is how much do you want to spend. You can find GOOD cars with spares from around 3500 and up. I would look on Maximumdirt.com. It is a Micro sprint sight and has alot of cars for sale. I would not jump at the first thing you find I would look around, ask questions and go to the race track and watch. There are several chassis builders right here in Indiana that can give you good support. Fastrax is in Kokomo, Concept is up around Warsaw. Those are just 2 right off the top of my head. Don't be afraid to ask questions when you go to the track. Most people are willing to answer any questions you might have. Call other chassis builders and they will answer questions. There are alot of good builders, Factor 1, PMP, Sawyer, Hyper, Stallard just to name a few. Micro tracks are in Indiana are Linton, US 24 speedway in Logansport and Peru and the Miami county fair grounds. Come out to the track and watch us. We can put on a very good show!! Good luck in your search!!
