Former Lawrenceburg promotor Ed Bennett passed Monday morning 5/11/2009 after battling cancer in Florida. He was 77 years old. Ed was originally a resident of Aurora IN during his reign at The Burg in the early to mid 70's. He left behind his loving wife Rozina and two children, Tony and Linda. Ed was a great guy and a good friend to many.

For those of you who knew and remember Ed and, wish to pay your respects, the visitation will be Saturday May 16, 2009 at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan IN. Rest In Peace ED. Another great racer gone.

Thanks for the info Craig. I didn't know him but I'm sure my Dad did and he will tell me the good stories about Ed. My prayers will be with those left to join him later.

Really sorry to hear the passing of Ed Bennet. I worked for Ed when he re-opened the 'Burg. And after several years my wife and father-in-law purchased the Speedway from Ed. Ed was really easy going, and truly a nice guy, in a business that was not always associated with nice guys. He always wanted to do what was fair for all, owners, drivers, and fans. I learned a lot about promotion and marketing when I worked for Ed and those expereinces still serve me well today. Rest in Peace Mr. Bennet and say hello to Dick, Calvin, Sheldon, Mike and the rest of the gang from the 'Burg that have gone before us.

I'm bumping this thread one last time to make sure Ed's friends and acquaintences in the racing community get the opportunity to see it. Thanks for your patience folks.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the Ed Bennett family during their time of grieving.

Cecil98, what years did Ed Bennett promote at the speedway?
