I would like to thank all the sprint car owners and drivers that have committed to being at Charleston Speedway this Saturday night. On behalf of the entire S.C.O.R.A family we look forward to getting our inaugural event under way by kicking off the 2009 season this weekend. We believe that there is a need for this kind series so the rules have been designed for and aimed at the blue collar racer that wants to get into sprint car racing but doesn’t have the assets to purchase an all aluminum engine. We know that racing is never going to be “cheap” but we feel that the rules in our series are a step in the right direction. I personally can’t wait to meet all of you and say hello. I’ll be announcing for S.C.O.R.A series this year so please feel free stop me and give me all your info like your sponsors, back ground and anything else you might have. Thank You John Gurley

CAmera is packed, flash is packed picked up 12 new AA batteries for my flash (lithilium batteries are expensive). Hopefully I can fit all my camera equipment into my laptop bag and still get to ride the motorcycle down to Sam's place.

I have an Official Push Trucks crew that will be there as well to help kick off the first SCORA race at Charleston. Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.
I honestly believe this series is a great opportunity for drivers to get valuable seat time at a variety of tracks instead of racing against the same people week in and week out at the same track. These steel block sprint cars are often mixed in with the aluminum blocks at many of the weekly races we watch... and often do quite well. The SCORA series offers them an opportunity to race only against other steel blocks at different tracks which will help develop and improve their racing skills. I believe this series will grow into a very popular racing series for both the fans and racers. This gives a modified driver who wants to move up to the sprints a place to put his modified engine into a sprint car chassis and get some valuable seat time without having to buy another motor.
Keeping the expenses reasonable has become even more important in our current economy. I for one am not willing to give up my love for sprint car racing even if it means giving up a few other things instead. This group has tremendous potential. I hope to see more and more racers take a serious look at the SCORA program. It is a driver friendly organization. See you at the races.
Joe
