USAC NATIONAL SPRINT CARS TO INVADE BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY MAY 8TH

By: Chris Nunn

BLOOMINGTON, IN- MAY 1ST- Coming off of a week off due to rain, Bloomington Speedway will present "Indiana Stoneworks Night" featuring the USAC National Sprint Cars and the Midwest Mini Sprint Association Mini Sprints on Friday night, May 8th. When the USAC National Sprint Cars come to Bloomington Speedway, there are two things you can expect: A stout field of Sprint Cars and the fact the weekly racers at the Bloomington Speedway will give the USAC regulars a run for their money. Jerry Coons, Jr. of Tucson, AZ picked up the victory in the last USAC National Sprint Car event ran at Bloomington Speedway on July 18th, 2008 as part of Indiana Sprint Week, as he bested a field of 49 of the best from the United States and Austrailia.

The MMSA is a STOCK 1,000cc,upright,winged touring class with provision for 600cc cars to participate, and are encouraged to do so with performance bonuses. The MMSA will be the sole support class for both USAC National Sprint Car events this season on the Bloomington Speedway schedule. The race this Friday will pay $1,500 to win for the MMSA Mini Sprints.

Jeff Bland, Jr. currently leads the Safety-Kleen points standings by 17 points over Brady Short, 18 points over Jon Sciscoe, and 25 points over Scott Hampton. The O'Neal Wood Products UMP Modifieds points are, as usual, close. John Demoss currently holds a two point advantage over Josh Eads, four points behind is Kent Robinson, five points behind is Clint DeMoss, and six points behind is Matt Bex. The Tire and Wheel Center UMP Super Stocks points are led by Troy Clark, who holds a seven point advantage over Clayton Perry. Eight points behind in third place is Brad Cummings, and then 20 points back to Marty Cooper in fourth.

Pit Gates open at 4:30 p.m., Grandstands 5:30 p.m., Hot Laps 6:30 p.m., Racing at 7:30 p.m. Kids 12 & Under FREE general admission with paid adult, General Admission $20, Pit Admission $30.

Should be a great night of racing with USAC and the MMSA,

Alot of Bloomington boys will be in the MMSA field, also heard from a little birdie that Chase Briscoe will be piloting a 1000cc for the first time, in a car campaigned by Economy Racing Components & Bradley Racing, good luck buddy!!!!

Cant wait to get to race at home for the first time!-andy
