Mike Stolarcyk the Third of Whitney Point New York and a former Champion in the IMCA Modified ranks passed away last evening at only 34 years young. I know most of you have probably never heard of Mike but I know how much IOW folks know racing and the link to Family so I felt compelled to write this on Mike's behalf.
Being from New York ourselves, we knew Mike and his Family well. Mike was third generation Family Business operator and racer. Mike put on a Race Car Show every year for the last 8 years so all the Upstate NY drivers could show off their cars to the Fans. It was always well attended and enjoyed by all. Mike found a way to get the most diverse group of cars for this show every year. From Pure Stocks, IMCA Mods, Sprint Cars, Big Block Modifieds, Asphalt Modifieds, Drag Cars, etc. It was always a great Show. Mike was a big supporter of Coleman and this team, traveling to the Chili Bowl to root for his New York Racing buddies Timmy McCreadie, Jessica Zemken and Coleman. Mike raced IMCA Mods at tracks around Upstate NY and won the Track Championship at 5 Mile Point Speedway 2 years ago. Mike was a clean driver and more importantly a very good man. Mike's passing is even more tragic since he leaves behind his loving wife Robin and their 2 young son's Mikey and Mason. The boys are only 4 and 2 respectfully. These boys cherished their daddy and he was their favorite driver. Mike was one of the Good Guys of our Sport. Honest and Caring for everyone. It is a sad day for New York Racers who knew him and even more Sad for those of us who knew him well. Mike, you will be missed by all. Our Prayers are with you Friend... The Gulick's |
