Did any of you know Frank funk? or at least get a chance to meet him? I have heard and read alot of good things about him how he promoted Jungle Park Speedway,Winchester Speedway and Dayton Speedway? Another legendary promoter in Michiana tracks like New Paris,South Bend Motor Speedway and plymouth Speedway and maybe Mottville (MI) Speedway I hear Joe Hamsher treated drivers fairly just like Frank Funk and how popular the CSRA BIg Car series was.
Joe Hamsher had a hand in the Michiana tracks success and they havent been as successful since the Joe Hamsher promotion days. did anyone here? know Joe Hamsher or Frank Funk?

My mother's husband knew Fulk.
He said he was wiley bussiness man, but fair. He had a flair for the unusual. |

My Grandfather was Frank Funk and my Dad was Delbert (Deb) Durbin, track announcer . Many great memories from Winchester during the days of Troy Ruttman, Duane Carter, Pat Oconner, Elmer George, Spider Webb and many many more. My Grandfather was wonderful to me and I never heard a bad word spoken of him. Dwight Durbin

My grandpa took me to the first race after WWII, Labor Day , September 4, 1945, at Winchester. We went to the back gate and were admitted without paying. My grandpa and Funk knew each other from supplying gravel from their gravel pits, selling it to Randolph County to build roads. It appeared that they had mutual respect for each other.
