I was surprised to hear that Tyce Carlsons' father;Richard past away last Wed.

I have known them since State Bail Bonding sponsored my little league team that their son Trae and I played on. Then years latter when Tyce started racing midgets, my dad built some of their motors.

I don't remember which year it was, it may have even been Tyce's first time at the Speedway, but I saw Richard in the garage area and we talked and he was at once both the most excited person in the garage area and the most nervous. He said he couldn't believe they where there.

He and his wife Joyce where always very nice to talk to and very kind people.

He was a character and the sport is missing more guys like him.

I last saw Dick Carlson at the RollerDerby this winter.
Talked a while like always.
Thoughts and Prayers from the Laycock's & Racin' with D.O. crew.

Dick was one of the reasons the Racin' with D.O. deal started with their help from State Bail Bonding.

RIP my Friend

The Carlson's were friends of my late wife, she grew up living in the same neighborhood. My condolences to Joyce, Tyce and the rest of the family.

Had many conversations with Dick back in the day when I worked with Roy Caruthers and Tyce's garage was on Gasoline Alley. He certainly had a unique perspective on life and I always enjoyed our talks.

With all do respect I'll throw out one last...."Ain't No Glammer Being In The Slammer!" :checkered:
