A big favor..

This idea was suggested to me on another post, after thinking I've decided to swallow my pride and ask.

With the open practices coming up I was wondering if there are any teams out there kind enough to let me push off and make a couple slow laps, I've always wanted to but never had the chance to drive a full sprint. I've recently been laid off so I don't have a lot to spend but would scrap together what I could to help you.

I know this is an enormous favor but I thought what the heck, I'll try. I'm no pro but I do have seat time in various cars just never a full sprint. Please PM me for what it would take in order to make it happen. For those who will post negatively or poke fun at me have at it! I'm just making an attempt.

Can't hurt to try! If you don't get any takers, you might want to look into some of the various sprint car driving schools. Since you have recently been laid off you probably don't want to do the full blown "expert" course. ($$$)
You could get some hot laps in the basic course, however. I'm not familiar with the midwest schools but check out the link below to get a price idea from Cruisers' school out west. $450.00 for training and laps. Just an idea. Maybe someone else can shed light on midwest schools? Good luck, hope you get to feel the thrill! :thumb

You might have better luck at the end of the year. Right now everythings' new and guys need to get as many of their own laps in. Guys also want to keep everything fresh and in one piece for points racin'.

Lots o' tracks have mechanic nights at the end of the year. That might be the best time to find this.

Thank you guys very much for the helpful advice, I've looked into almost every school there is Benic, Kruseman, Smiley's Sutton's in TX, I found one in New Jersey run by Billy Paunch? I just couldn't afford those schools there is a newer school out now as well in North Carolina where you can run a modified, Late model, and a sprint it's called The Dirt Track School run by Shawn Parker, I spoke with him a few times when he was starting it up, Great Guy! That is what I was leaning towards this year until I got laid off.

I'm not really new to rentals/schools, I've been fortunate enough in the past to rent and race a Kenyon, a Legends, a Pure Stock as well as an advanced class at the KY Spdwy in what you people call Taxi Cabs..haha Along with that I raced modifieds at Eldora from 98-02.

With me getting alittle older 34 and with my layoff my racing fire is starting to burn out, so when this was suggested to me I thought I'd give it a try! I appreciate the suggestions and keep them coming, I'm feeling better about this decision already I thought I'd be ridiculed.

Didn't you say you built a car, Even at the loss of a lady? DO you still have it?

Rent a truck about 75 bucks, bring it down. Tag the tail of a heat, Pull in after a couple laps before your a backmarker. Their right, If anyone will do it, it would be end of season. If you ran four years in mods at Eldora. I wouldn't call you clueless.

Good luck

You know rob, thats as honest as i've seen on here. Mucho respect from me. To be honest, i'd put you in my car when we test but i have a new driver in it to test and can't take a chance. Nothing personal!!!!!! If i had my 2'nd car ready, i'd put you in it for some laps. Slow ones of course....LOL
We are going to test at LPS on the April 4th test day and if everything works well and we have no problems, stop by and ask. Ya never know.....Not promising anything !!!!!!

And it won't t cost you anything......... by the way

I'll even supply the beer.....LOL

I race in Ca. ,heres how it works ...you help a racer in the pit threwout the season and around thanksgiving weekend Walt James has a little Gala event/open practice at Willow Springs and we all let anyone who's worked hard all season have at it in our cars...payback for their efforts....You could earn a ride:doh:
