So, it's business as usual in the midget racing business according to a recent post by a race official. Let me pose an interesting scenario and I'd like all the status quo people to expond upon it:

A middle class gentleman with a modest income from, let's say Lima, Ohio (that town is in western Ohio near the Indiana border, about 100+ miles from Indianapolis) has an interest in buying a dirt midget. He can't afford the million dollar price tag of following the USAC National midget trail but would like to run a lot of races. Now all of my adversaries on this thread, step in here and convince him with all your reasons to buy a midget team. Include the locations of the tracks that he'll be racing at, race dates, miles to these tracks, racing expenses, fees, how much he'll be paying the driver, cost of engine rebuilds, trailer, tools, a garage, mechanic, tire rules etc, etc. You know best guys, tell everything good about this deal. Since most all you adversaries have the answers to the issues confronting midget racing today, let's hear your sales talk.

Don -

While I can appreciate your concerns about the rising costs in racing(let's face it, nothing is getting cheaper, except LCD TV's and some cell phones), I've always felt that owning a race car was like owning a large boat....

1) There's a large initial investment

2) There are large, ongoing operating expenses

3) You'll never make a profit at it....ever

4) If you have to ask how much it costs, you probably cannot afford to do it..

You continue to pose questions and concerns about the costs associated with midget racing, and racing in general.

We get it!

You think that racing is controlled by too few and it costs too much to particpate in, certainly more than a few years ago. Well; guess what? So does gasoline, electricity, food, and just about everything else. So, while I don't have any of the answers, I get a bit tired of you stirring the pot, just to stir the pot.

Yeah, I know, so don't read your posts.....you win.....I won't......

Don, you’re hurting the sport more then you’re helping with your posts, and to the fan who wants to know about midgets and get involved you’re not setting a good example. Not everyone can play in the NBA, MLB, NASCAR, but those who work hard and utilize the resources at hand, rather then spend time complaining will get more done and be more successful. I have seen races and championships won on pure skills and determination over money, many times. trust me you cant buy wins.

So far, everybody is flunking. No wonder the governor of Ohio is mandating that schools teach critical thinking.
