Since I'm an avid open wheel racing fan;
Can I receive the signal the officials get so that I don't have to rely on trying to hear the announcers over the cars & fans, while sitting in the stands? This is basically for qualifying. I will purchase the software or whatever if I can put it on my pda & use it. Even if I had the manufacturer I could go to them & try to get it. But I don't know where to start. The Tracks & Sanctions aren't very forthcoming about. All I ever want is the correct information. I can work the numbers & figure out the lineups on my own. I even use 1 way Racing Radio scanner but unless they run the numbers over it, I won't have them. This would be very handy at all events. Please advise or forward to someone that can help me with this. Thanks, Rich

Rick, I think Lawrenceburg has their frequency posted, and you can use a "Raceceiver", or most any scanner, to pick up the signal, and then lock on it, as far as I know, they only have one to the drivers, the personnel have differen't ones, which your scanner will pick up. That ought to get you going, we use the Bearcat 25 channel scanner, and it works fine. Good luck! Bob

Rich,
I think what you are looking for is an iCard (which you use with a Nintendo Game Boy). Tracks that use electronic scoring systems are hardwired -- loop, to decoder, to computer. Passings are made when the transponder passes over the scoring loop. An iCard system uses a wireless transmission that is not a direct part of the electronic scoring system. It is an additional wireless transmission of the scoring data. USAC has used this system in the past but I'm not sure if they still do. Sandy |
