I was wondering, why is it that one doesn't see many Keizer Wheels on sprint cars? They're all I've used with my uprights, and I think they're great. I've even seen them on Midgets, but hardly any sprints. Any input?

Back when I was racing it seemed that no one around Indiana ever tried marketing Keizer wheels. I remember one time a guy came from Pennsylvania and was running them but other then that it was primarily Weld and Sanders being sold in most shops we bought from.

Lack of marketing would be my guess. They seem to be pretty nice wheels from what little I have seen of them.

We used some Kaizer wheels and they look pretty but they are a royal pain in the butt to dismount. Weld and Sander wheels you can get off with one trip around the wheel but with Kazier you better plan on 10 minutes to get a tire off. I would never get another one.

Time to dismount doesn't really bother me, as I've used the 13" wheels for 5 years now (I guess I don't know the luxury of taking one trip around the wheel to dismount lol)

Strength wise is there an issue with using these wheels on sprints?

There are more teams running them than people think. They are a nice wheel. Some people have reserves about the centers because of the way they lighten them. They are drilled and some people feel that leaves stress risers that lead to cracks and premature failures. The Circle wheels have faced the same kind of scrutiny because they are a cast center instead of billet. The Circle wheel is a nice piece as well.

Currently Weld and Sander both use billet or forged centers for their strength. The Sander wheels had a problem with the front hubs and rear wheel centers breaking because they where cast magnesium. The cast centers/hubs developed cracks after a period of use and broke causing a bad situation for driver and team. Sander switched to a billet hub and center about 2 years ago.

I have ran Keizer wheels on my micro sprint, midget, and sprint car. Never had a problem with them. The only issue is the dismounting. It does take a while because the bead is so far down.

I have one Keizer wheel left for my midget. It is on the right rear. It is a very nice lightweight wheel. It is a nightmare to dismount. When using a hand bead breaker it folds the wheel lip up with little effort. So you have to go slow and go around the wheel 20 times before the bead is off. Also because they are so thin if you just touch anything on the track with it they fold like crazy. I would personally never use them again. Well unless they gave me some for free. Then I'd come back and tell ya how great they are.

I worked for Bret Mellenberndt who runs all Keizer wheels on his sprintcar. Dismounting them was no problem to me. We never even bent a wheel center or a front hub! CHECK OUT YOUTUBE you'll see they got abused. HOWEVER you cant bang wheels with them besouse they are so lite the wheel halves wont take it. when and if you do order a wheel from them you may as well go ahead and order the outer half as a spare too. you'll need it before anything else. I have worked on other teams that use weld and sanders and if I were to buy a new wheel for a sprintcar it would be a keizer!

My guess is lack of marketing. They work well in the midwest and yes, sometimes you have to go around a couple of times but not 20. Keep your bead breaker in good shape and you should have no problem. The main thing is very few failures. Bang the wall and lose a wheel means the axle is probably going to be in it.
