Very sorry and saddened to read this. Growing up in Detroit in the 1960s, the MARC Times was the bible of racing. Dick & Pat Beebe and their staff provided the most thorough and interesting coverage of racing not only in Michigan, but in the Midwest. I still read through tattered copies for tales regaling my boyhood heroes and their exploits on the great tracks of the Midwest.
Most of all Dick was a good person who realized that no person (driver, fan, crewmen, sponsor, journalist) is bigger than the sport itself. He loved the sport and valued everything it has to offer. He will never be forgotten.
