TWIN CITIES RACEWAY PARK TIDBITS

The Twin Cities Raceway Park, located in North Vernon, IN will be taking on some new changes in the 2009 racing season. The season schedule will rotate once again with the Brownstown Speedway to ensure top notch competition at both race tracks.

Concerns grew over the 2008 season about the racing surface, so to combat that, Mason and Tawnya Fleetwood sought out one of the best track prep gurus in Richard Bane. Bane, who has worked in dirt for over 35 years, will be prepping the track starting in the second week of February. Along with the track prep changes, more sprucing up of the facilities will be taking place. Including repainting the entire wall of the race track.

For you Non Winged Sprint Car fans, don't worry, TCRP will be hosting six Non Winged Sprint Car events in the 2009 season. The first Non Winged Sprint Car race of the 2009 season ANYWHERE in the state of Indiana will take place on Saturday Night, March 28th, as a tune-up for the following weeks' running of the "No Way Out 40". The "No Way Out 40", to be held on Saturday April 4th, will pay $3,000 to win and $200 to start for Non Winged Sprints. Look for a lot of heavy hitters to be at TCRP that evening to get their equipment dialed in for the upcoming season. Other Non Winged Sprint Car shows will be May 16th, July 4th, July 18th, and August 29th. When the Sprints are on the card, they WILL BE RUN FIRST ALL NIGHT!

Also making up the 2009 schedule will be the first ever "Mini Stock Rock" on June 6th. The second running of the "Gamblers Shootout" for UMP Modifieds will be ran on June 13th. The "All Star Circuit of Champions" Late Model Series will sanction the Ted Collins Memorial on Friday Night, July 17th, paying $5,000 to win. The $1,000 to win "Mark Clark Memorial" for UMP Super Stocks will be held on July 25th. The 3rd Annual "Don Russ Memorial Race" For UMP Pure Stocks will be held on August 15th. To round out the special events schedule, the BIG DAWG 100 for UMP Modifieds will make its first ever appearance at the Twin Cities Raceway Park on the weekend of September 5th and 6th. Saturday the 5th will see the running of the Bear Wieck Memorial Race, with Sunday the 6th featuring the $5,000 to win "Big Dawg 100" for UMP Modifieds. Add a superb lineup of weekly events to this special events calendar, and you will have one exciting year of racing at the Twin Cities Raceway Park!

If you want to get your cars ready for the season, there will be two open practice dates before the season begins. March 19th and March 25th will be the designated practice dates.

So does this mean that the same guy that runs Puntnamville will not be running TCRP this year? I would love to come over this year to race. I haven't been there since we ran the wings there several years ago.

Sounds like this could be a cool place to race.:greenflag:
