DOUBLEHEADER WEEKEND FOR USAC MWRA AT HUMBOLDT & PARK CITY MAY 5-6

By: Ray Cunningham

Kansas City, Kansas (May 4, 2023)………The USAC Wholesale Batteries Midwest Wingless Racing Association Sprint Cars will compete in a unique Kansas doubleheader on Friday, May 5, at Humboldt Speedway and on Saturday, May 6, at 81 Speedway in Park City.

Humboldt Speedway is located in southeastern Kansas and it’s where the MWRA will be competing for the first time ever this weekend, featuring exciting side-by-side racing at the Allen County dirt track.

MWRA next heads west for a showdown at 81 Speedway where the MWRA will be competing for the fourth time over the last four seasons at the south central Kansas dirt oval.

81 Speedway’s history goes back almost 70 years when it was first called Robbins Speedway, named after original track owner and builder Jim Robbins. *A few seasons later, the track was expanded, and the name was changed to 81 Speedway.

The MWRA has raced at this historic speed plant since the series’ inception in 2020. *That season, Wyatt Burks of Topeka, Kan., driving the Wyatt Burks Racing/Rumsey Racing No. 11w, took the win and eventual championship, then repeated both of those accomplishments in 2022 for the Capitol City race team.

Since then, Wesley Smith (Nixa, Mo.), driving the John Helm Racing/WSR Racing No. 12, was victorious after a wild shootout with Luke Howard (Overland Park, Kan.) in 2021.

So far in 2023, the road to the MWRA championship and the $10,000 dollar first place prize has traveled through Electric City Speedway and I-70 Motorsports Park (for show up points only) with Braydon Cromwell in the BCR No. 4 and Burks in the WBR No. 11w taking the wins, respectively.
