4/23/23 1:02 PM KING OF KINGS: ROA WINS AGAIN IN HANFORD
https://www.usacracing.com/news/spri...ain-in-hanford ![]() * KING OF KINGS: ROA WINS AGAIN IN HANFORD Hanford, California (April 22, 2023)………It took little time for Brody Roa to flex his muscles during Saturday night’s Spanky Matthews Memorial at Hanford, California’s Kings Speedway. Roa (Garden Grove, Calif.) charged from his fifth starting position and into the lead during the first five laps of the 30-lap feature to score his third victory of the AMSOIL USAC CRA Sprint Car season in his Tom & Christy Dunkel/BR Performance #17R. The triumph for Roa was the first of his USAC CRA career in Hanford and helped cushion his point lead to 79 markers after winning three of the first six series events to start the 2023 season.* Roa’s 16th career series win ranks fifth on the all-time USAC CRA Sprint Car win list, four behind 2007 series champion Tony Jones for fourth. Austin Williams (Yorba Linda, Calif.) came home second behind Roa in the main event while Ryan Timmons (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) took third after leading the initial four laps. Jake Andreotti (Castro Valley, Calif.), making his series debut, won his heat race, then collected fourth in the feature while Troy Rutherford (Ojai, Calif.) earned hard charger honors in memory of Jim & Chet Gardner after racing his way from 12th to 5th. Cody Williams (Norco, Calif.) was the night’s Woodland Auto Display Fast Qualifier with a time of 16.126 seconds before finishing 10th in the feature.* He now holds the second spot in the overall series championship standings. * ================== * AMSOIL USAC CRA SPRINT CAR SERIES RACE RESULTS: April 22, 2023 – Kings Speedway – Hanford, California – Spanky Matthews Memorial WOODLAND AUTO DISPLAY QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Great race with Roa and Big Game Hunter battling for lead. All evening was proof don't need a giant field of cars for a quality racing.

NO CARS, NO FANS, NO SPORT! And you get publications like this IENewswire · OPEN LETTER TO USAC/CRA , IT'S SPRINT CAR OWNERS & PROMOTERS !!! Due to the low car counts this season including last nights dozen or so Sprint Cars @ the latest race @ Hanford, my suggestion is , A emergency meeting is called ASAP between USAC , Car Owners & Promoters to resolve this situation! One thing USAC/CRA can do is put all sprint cars into one division , maybe put 50# on the 410;s , give the 360/s 1 1/2" more right rear kick out to help equalize the cars , a few bucks for the highest qualifilying & finishing 360 etc can immediately help reestablish a healthy Sprint Car Division on the west coast ! Also if your car is VRA Legal Challenge Cup or ? your car is legal under the 360 incentive package! If something is not done extremely quickly tell me how Traditional Sprint Cars on the West coast as Chevrolet Hinnershitz Foyt Jones Dickson Opperman Kinser Sills Kaeding Oskie Thompson Hogle Williams etc are not of the extinction list unless Car Counts & Fans come back to this sport ???

I went to Hanford last night. Great race, but I'm not surprised by the serious concern... it feels like the CRA is in a death spiral.

Thanks for trying to lecture me Charles but most people know that traditional sprint cars in So Cal have been on a downward spiral for a few years now.
I never realized if you have no cars or fans the sport would die. The wonderful internet teaches lessons everyday.

I was just sharing my bewilderment on how far it's dropped.
I actually charge for lectures ![]() Hope they figure something out. I agree with the open letter, We had TQ's Midgets and Sprints when I was young, If you had a 305, flathead or 427 or whatever you had you ran sprint cars Not multiple classes catered to budgets.

The glory days of CRA and traditional sprint cars is indeed dying and has been for awhile now on the West side of this great country. Sad. I am actually surprised it has hung on this long. Just look at us here in Az. Dead for the most part especially here in Phoenix. We no longer even have a track in town.
