12/21/22 3:45 PM PERFECT ATTENDANCE: GRANT STARTS EVERY USAC NATIONAL EVENT FOR 2ND STRAIGHT YEAR
More... ![]() PERFECT ATTENDANCE: GRANT STARTS EVERY USAC NATIONAL EVENT FOR 2ND STRAIGHT YEAR By: Richie Murray – USAC Media Speedway, Indiana (December 21, 2022)………For the fourth time in his career, and for the second straight year, Justin Grant achieved perfect attendance throughout a USAC National season. Grant (Ione, Calif.) started all 82 USAC National feature events in 2022 across the board with the AMSOIL National Sprint Cars (39), NOS Energy Drink National Midgets (32) and Silver Crown series (11). In fact, since midway through 2020, Grant hasn’t missed a feature event with the United States Auto Club, beginning an active record of 204 starts without a miss entering the 2023 season. Grant, the 2022 USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Champion, has now started every USAC National race in a season for the fourth time in his career (2017, 2018, 2021 & 2022).* Only Tracy Hines has achieved the feat more often, doing so on six different occasions (2002, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013 & 2014). In all, just six individuals have started every event in a season since Hines became the first to do it in 2002.* J.J. Yeley’s USAC Triple Crown season of 2003 was the second time it happened.* Bryan Clauson and Jerry Coons Jr. did likewise in 2010.* Chris Windom finished off his career USAC Triple Crown season in 2020 by starting every event as well. Grant holds the record for the most feature starts in a USAC season when he rolled off for all 93 races in 2021.* The year 2010 marked the only time that multiple drivers started all the events in a single season, and there were three: Clauson, Coons and Hines. * DRIVERS TO START EVERY USAC NATIONAL FEATURE IN A SEASON: (1956-2022) 2002: 64 of 64 | Tracy Hines 2003: 70 of 70 | J.J. Yeley 2008: 61 of 61 | Tracy Hines 2010: 77 of 77 | Bryan Clauson, Jerry Coons Jr. & Tracy Hines 2011: 65 of 65 | Tracy Hines 2013: 61 of 61 | Tracy Hines 2014: 61 of 61 | Tracy Hines 2017: 70 of 70 | Justin Grant 2018: 67 of 67 | Justin Grant 2020: 60 of 60 | Chris Windom 2021: 93 of 93 | Justin Grant 2022: 82 of 82 | Justin Grant * NUMBER OF TIMES A DRIVER STARTED EVERY USAC NATIONAL FEATURE IN A SEASON: 6: Tracy Hines (2002, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013 & 2014) 4: Justin Grant (2017, 2018, 2021 & 2022) 1: Bryan Clauson (2010) 1: Jerry Coons Jr. (2010) 1: Chris Windom (2020) 1: J.J. Yeley (2003) * |

Great list of drivers and the kind of accomplishments some of us only dreamed of!
NOT a condescending question; but, was 2001 the last year these top 3 series quit having races scheduled on top of eachother? (I know Tony had to miss a couple shows along the way when he won all 3 champs in 95)

Speaking of Tracy Hines, what is he doing since his retirement? Does he even come to the races anymore? The guy was an incredibly skilled racer, plus equally talented in car setup too. You'd think he'd be helping up and coming drivers/teams reach their goals.

Last I knew about Tracy & Family they sold most of their equipment, moved to
Ohio to work for Thor Motorsports & raced a Winged Sprinter occasionally. I chatted w/Krista @ Montpelier last time USAC ran then in 2016?
