Hey it seems no one is willing to help you out. I run at Paragon and I know you could run good there. It is a good deal if you just want seat time everyone runs a feature most nights. He pays $500 to win $100 to start. He runs some special show throughout the year that pay better.
I figure you would also be able to run well at Putnamville but any where in Indiana has a good amount of decent cars. In my opinion it just depends on the night and what the track does if it get dry slick you would be good at any track. It all depends on what you want to do and the amount of money you want to spend, Just remember to have fun racing. David Hair |

A good 355 or 360 would do just fine at most tracks in Indiana.

Or you can strap a wing on and come up to MI and run with the ASCS SOD group. SOD pays $1200 to win, $250 to start or $100 tow if you don't make the show.
Assuming you are wanting to stay non winged I agree with the above posters. A 360 can be competitive on the dry slick short tracks but you will struggle early in the night when the track is heavy. |

I posted a response to this very question a few months ago when someone from out West (Phoenix, I think) posed it. In 2003,4 and 5 we raced with the MSCS and local tracks with our ASCS motors, and I wouldn't even call them "good" motors, being that they're wet sump, home-built motors. I felt significantly more competitive racing without the wings in IN than I did with the wings with ASCS. Had we been a little smarter on setups, etc. I think we could have been even more competitive. As it was, I never felt completely out to lunch, even on the big tracks (Bardstown, Terre Haute, etc.). Some things to remember when evaluating: 1. If you've got a good ASCS motor, chances are it has large injectors with 2-3/16" restrictors. Taking out the restrictors should give some more power. 2. The ASCS motors obviously weigh more than the aluminum motors. You may have to consider this when asking guys for setup advice. Feel free to PM me if you'd like any more insight but, as of right now, we plan on running with our ASCS motors in 2009 in IN. Hope to see you there. Tim Simmons |
