This one was John Levan, a/k/a taz70739, who posted here on occasion. You guys in PA might know him. He was involved with ARDC back in the day. More recently he was the editor/owner, etc. of www.openwheelracers.com and, along with Lenny Calinoff, the guy who gave me a nudeg to start writing about races and people who race.

John will be missed.

Danny,

John Levan has a classy website...and was a fine credit to racing. I spoke with him a few weeks ago...he was fighting till the end. We regret not going to the east coast to visit.

Godspeed John Levan

I was always proud to be associated with openwheelracers.com. I always felt John's website was one of the best NEWS sites around. If you wanted to find out what was going on, John normally had it. His was always one of the first I checked for race results.

I met John face-to-face at Atlantic City in 2005 and shared a room with him at Fort Wayne last year. His love for racing was obvious but more so was the enjoyment he attained from the people who make racing what it is.

He's going to be sadly missed by those of us associated with openwheelracers.com, but by the many racers who crossed his path.

In old newsroom jargon, a journalist who died was said to have written his final 30 -- which was a traditional copyediting symbol indicating the end of a story.

In today's electronic age, John LeVan has made his final post. But, I'm certain there's many stories about John and racing.

Well this is becoming a all to familiar story. I first bumped into john (taz) as i got to know him in some chatroom somewhere in here a few years back. I certainly was in awe with his memory of the good old days and chatted quite a bit. When we were running a silvercrown race at Richmond a few years back i finally got to meet and greet with john and a bunch of our friends under the back grandstands. It`s funny whe n you meet someone you have chatted with a bunch of times on the internet....no one looked like what i expected but we all shared the same passion for auto racing......sad to say when john last posted saying he was curtailing hes efforts for awhile i typed a note wishing him well and hoped he`d be back soon........Well all i can add to this saga is the reassuring fact that john and dwight must be having a hell of a time up there............:checkered:
