Today marks another anniversary of the sad day at Salem in 1990.

The least we can do is attend the Rich Vogler at Winchester tonight!

What a great way to pay tribute to him than to have a race, TODAY(!), in his honor. And the only USAC race left on "The Hills" to boot! Fitting.

I still remember driving home from the Kings Royal and hearing the news state that Rich had passed from a accident. If you were into non wing racing back then, Rich was the man to beat, Hands down in Sprints, Midgets and Champ cars. He was scheduled to run his first Nascar Race the day after his death.

Lots of lives have been saved since. This brought about what many used Cage Nets to keep you in the car. Now full containment seats.

There is also a Vogler Scholarship that's been given out every year since.

R.I.P Rich.

Thinking of Eleanor Vogler today. We owe her a debt of gratitude for keeping Rich’s memory alive through the scholarships.

I always have to chime in when we mention Rich. As good as any USAC racer in my book. Always a factor. And like Charles referred to, it didn’t matter which car or which surface. 🐐

"As good as any USAC racer in my book"...I'd humbly suggest replacing the word "good" with GREAT, and taking out the word USAC (and I have much respect for USAC) - "As great as any RACER in my book".

I wished I had got to see him for more years than I did, but I read the John Sawyer book word by word (it was VERY detailed), everything else I could, watched old ESPN tapes; etc. One of the coolest stories I think of on Rich, was when he DNF'd in the 500, and made it to Sun Prairie in time for the evening races there! Heck of an era...

Was at the track that evening. It was my girlfriends first Sprint Car Race and quite upsetting for both of us. Weird evening with the lights going out and everything. Long Drive back to Speedway

RIP Rich

I work with Rich's cousin. Who also happens to be named Rich Vogler. I will have to scour the internet to find a picture from last night with Eleanor Vogler in it. So I can share it with him and his dad.
