I almost went for last nights show...could only make Friday night as I have to work Saturday afternoon.
Drive there, spend all that cash, and not see the feature... wouldn't have been fun. First year though, hopefully they are getting the bugs worked out for future events |

does anyone know how the attendance was last night? i'm thinking 5 class of cars (300 total) is a little to much.

I think if there's even the slightest chance this race will be back next year, tonight would be the night to get out and support it. No matter how horrible the track is, how dragged out the show is, if you want another major winter racing event, you need to support them, so they even make an attempt to come back and do better next year.
If it sucks next year, well.... |

First off, I'd like to give a kudos to POWRi for putting on a mid winter show in a relatively large town.
That said, why did folks think they could get any bigger of a track inside a 200' by 85' hockey rink? I mean, 200 feet times two straights is only 400 feet. The ends of the track could be no more than 133 feet across each if you multiply 85 feet by pi (3.14). In other words, about the largest such a track could be is 667 feet, or about two yards longer than an 1/8th mile. (An 1/8th mile drag strip is 660 feet) |

Regardless the size, I kinda like the track... I see two problems here tonight... there's no ventilation which makes for a hazy eye and nose burning night, and to compensate they have every door in the place wide open making it not so warm inside. Problem two would be that the crowd is about the same size as the track- pretty small...

The Saturday night show was much better than Friday. The crowd was better too. Over at 10:45, cudos to Bryan Clausen for persevering. If they have it again next year, I'll go back. It ended up being a typical indoor race, small track, fumes, lots of beating and banging, but still better than sitting at home.

Ill tell you this we showed up on saturday and bought our tickets at the gate and asked if we could be around turn 1 and they said yeah you will be in the upper deck. So i asked well what do you have in the lower section? The reply i got back was " Lower level is SOLD OUT" Now i would have to say there was not even enough in that building to fill the front stright so i hope people didnt get mad and just not come back on Saturday that would suck. I was a little upset with the venting off the building because i brought clothes like i would for the chili bowl and i swear it had to be 40 degrees in that building!! So i had to go buy a T-MAC Sweat shirt!! LOL its for sale if anyone wants it!! :rolling LOL just jokin! I hope they try it again, just in a different place!! little bigger please ....:wink

It took some major guts to organize a show like that. Obviously there were some issues, but I'm sure it was that way at the Chili Bowl the first time out as well. That said, I just wonder how much crowd they needed to have a successful show, and just how many people ended up going. |
