Ricky Weld passed away on 4 December 2008. I just read this for the first time today - 11 December 2008. My heartfelt prayers and sympathies go out to the family of Ricky Weld.

Was Ricky a brother to Greg and Kenny? I feel kind of ignorant because I didn't know there was another Weld (from that family) racing.

i do remember jerry, now that it's been mentioned but, i know very little of his career. Greg and Kenny were the highest profile of that clan. i had never heard of Ricky before this announcement. i most remember Greg driving Dr. Dunseth's two tone pearl blue sprint car and, i most remember Kenny for his involvement in the "ground effects" lincoln continental modified (driven by Gary Bullough? i believe) that just ran off and hid at the Syracuse Nationals one year. Shortly after that, i think both Kenny and Gary did some time in prison? correct me if i'm wrong.

Jerry was the first to go. He stepped out infront of traffic by their shop in Kansas City. Kenny and Ballough were the ones with the "Batmobile" as it was called. Yes, both Ballough and Kenny did time in prison. The unbelievable part of Kenny being in prison was that he read and taught himself how to write computer programs. This lead to the creation of Weldtech heads. They were the first successful cnc ported heads. Ricky started driving somewhere around 1971. He drove his father "Pappy's" car, winning 29 feature events in his first two years. In 10 seasons, he won more features than any other driver his father employed.
