Meseraull Mesmerizes I-96 BOSS Fans

The MPD Racing Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series met the Great Lakes Traditional Sprints for "Sprint Wars" at I-96 Speedway last night. A near perfect split of the field set up a great rivalry, however, a true "outlaw" in the traditional sprint car world upstaged the party! With a pair of wins a night earlier at Gas City Speedway, San Jose, California native, Thomas Meseraull rolled into Michigan on a mission and would charge from 8th to the lead in just 5 laps to score the win in the Don Whitney owned #00.

Thirty-one cars signed in for the action on a very well prepared race track. Drew Rader, Saban Bibent, Cody White, and Meseraull, were quick timers in their respective heat race groups. Meseraull was overall top qualifier with a clocking of 16.005 seconds. The four heat races ran very smoothly with only 2 yellow flags among them. Heats were won by Mike Miller, Keith Sheffer, Lee Underwood and Dustin Ingle. Mike Astrauskas won the 12 lap MSD Ignitions B-Main.

As the night air got very cool, the traditional sprint car main event heated things up with a fantastic 4 wide salute to the race fans. 2014 BOSS champion, Mike Miller, paced the field to the green flag with opening event winner, Drew Rader, alongside. A beautiful start saw 22 of the bravest hustling their traditional steeds into the first turn. It took only 5 laps for 8th starting Meseraull to get to the front, leaving the other 21 starters to battle for runner-up honors.

Great racing was found throughout the pack as cars ran 2, 3 and sometimes 4 wide. The great racing was evident in the fact the top 4 finishers advanced 7, 10, 13 and 9 positions each! Following Meseraull at the finish were 12th starting Dustin Daggett, 16th starting Steve Irwin, and 13th starting Luke Hall. In all, 39 passes for position among the top 4 with zero help from attrition.

Rounding out the top 10 were Keith Sheffer Jr, Mike Miller, Drew Rader, Saban Bibent, Cody White, and Jesse Vermillion. Twenty-one of the 22 main event starters finished the event.

Next up for the MPD Racing BOSS tour is another doubleheader weekend May 14-15 at Gas City Speedway and Lawrenceburg Speedway in Indiana.
