Has anyone from this board ever made the trip to New Zealand for some Western Springs racing? Just wondering what the rough cost was for the trip? Could a couple do it for under $8-10,000 for the week? I know spending money for people are different. But just wondering basics for Flights, lodging, Tix. I just think it would be cool to catch 3-4 nights of racing & New Year’s Eve in New Zealand.
I don’t remember if it was here or on Hoseheads about a company that would plan trips to Australia and New Zealand. I don’t remember all of the details but it may not be as big a planning trip as you think. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Thanks for the info ahead of time.
You should be able to do it under $8000 especially now since flights are cheap. I went there for work 4 years ago and stayed 10 days. Even not having to worry about costs as they paid for it I spent about $6000 and ate at nice places and stayed at nicer hotels.
I know Aussie Wayne comes here for six weeks every summer pre covid and he stays with me a couple nights during that trip. He says the whole six weeks going to races most every night he spends about $10,000 USD
You might want to check first and see if they are letting Americans into the country. I see Brock Zearfoss and Lynton Jeffrey are racing in Western Australia and they had to quarantine for 14 days when they arrived.
One week is not long enough for a trip like that.I've been to Australia twice the first time for 2 1/2 weeks not knowing what I was getting myself into at the time, and everyone told me it wasnt long enough. They were right,it wasnt long enough. I felt like I just got there and had to turn around and leave. The next trip I went for 8 weeks and it wasnt long enough to do everything I wanted to do either, but I was there long enough to get acclimated and not feel rushed. I went to a lot of races as well. I always recommend 3 weeks minimum and longer if you can stand it.
It doesnt hurt to find some New Zealanders here for the midget weeks (in the pre covid days) that used to come over on a tour, and chat with them about their country etc etc.
The easiest way to see if you are talking to a New Zealander, but you are not sure if they are a Kiwi, just ask the what comes after 5. If they say "sex" you will know they are from NZ
Due to government restrictions, only New Zealanders can enter New Zealand at the moment with limited exceptions. Everyone arriving has to quarantine for two weeks in a government facility.
If/when we ever get back to the world as usual I would expect your budget to easily cover costs for your intended period of travel.
