My cousin Paul Byers, aka Poncho has just had quadruple bypass surgery and is doing fine. He's a regular at Kokomo and Gas City and Usac shows and has been his whole life and is a huge Dave Darland fan. Poncho will be awhile getting back around but know he'll be back as soon as he can.

I saw him at Putnamville (I think) last week and thought he looked puny. Didn’t his parents come to the races all the time? Are they still with us?

Yes his dad Gary Byers was a long time midget driver and occasionally go to races these days and his parents are doing well. Poncho and I were at the kokomo midget week show and he started having problems later that night. He's at St. Vincent in Carmel now but this week hopefully he'll be at Woodbridge in Logansport for a rehab period. Thank you so much.

I remember watching Gary Byers wheel a midget back in the day. I had no idea that was him when I talked to him and his wife at the races.
