Brian VanMeveren set to kick off 2020 with six-race stretch through Indiana
By Spieker Promotions PITTSBORO, Ind. (June 16, 2020) – Coming off a strong rookie campaign with the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car tour last season, Brian VanMeveren is set to tackle the tough 410 sprint car competition in the Hoosier State once again in 2020. Despite a successful season last year, where he led the USAC National rookie of the year points in the late stages of the season, VanMeveren meticulously revamped nearly his entire program over the offseason. “We’ve changed almost everything in the program. We’ve changed some configurations and geometry on the car, which should definitely help,” VanMeveren said. New this year will also be the addition of full-time car chief, Kevin Smith. VanMeveren is looking forward to working with Smith this season, as Smith brings in experiences from some of the top USAC teams in the country, including Clauson-Marshall Racing. “Just having the consistency of working with the same guy every single race is going to be huge for me,” he said. “I’m hoping we can build on our chemistry every night out. I think that will really help our team this year.” Running six races in six nights will be a good way to get up to speed with Smith, says VanMeveren. “The bottom line is, we want to run as many races as possible. It’s no secret that we’ve got a late start to the season, but getting a bunch of races in this week will be a good way to make up some of what we’ve missed out on,” he said. VanMeveren has his goal set high this season after making several positive changes to his program. “I’m hoping to be able to crank out some podium finishes, or at least top fives. I’m looking to get more consistent this year as well,” said the St. Paul, Minnesota driver. “Consistently running inside the top five by the end of the night. With that, I think wins will eventually come.” Sprint cars will co-headline each night along the Indiana Midget Week tour, which kicks off tonight at Paragon Speedway. Each event can be seen live on FloRacing.com. “Thanks to the Wingo brothers for all of the hard work they’ve put in over the offseason,” said VanMeveren. “They’ve put in hundreds of hours. That’s invaluable. Things are shaping up to be a good year and I’m excited to get it going.” VanMeveren would like to thank all of his sponsors for their continued support!
